Housed in a native-stone building constructed during Roosevelt's WPA days, the museum traces the heritage of settlers who carved out a living in early day Indian Territory to those living in the 1930s. Featured is an 1892 Cabin inside the museum.

Entering the main entrance to the Sam Noble Hall, one encounters Cartertown, the museum's fictional turn-of-the-century community. Adjacent to the hall are three wings. Two feature various collections of fashions and jewelry, household items, machinery and carriages.

Accompanying the displays is the Military Annex, appointed with memorabilia from the American Revolution through Desert Storm that represents every branch of the armed services.

The Museum is operated by the Carter County Historical Society.
